The Regents Bachelor of Arts is a program specifically designed for the non traditional student. The RBA is a flexible, accommodating program that understands that non traditional students are unique and the demands on them differ from those of the typical college student. The RBA student faces the realities of career demands, family obligations and financial pressures. The RBA recognizes these specific difficulties and attempts to remove the obstacles that preclude non traditional students from attending college.
RBA students enjoy the freedom to explore the University system to pursue their interests and expand their horizons. A flexible schedule with evening and online courses helps the student continue to work full-time and be a major part of family life while still progressing towards a bachelor's degree. Financial aid is available to qualified students, the same as any other college student, to help ease the financial burden of going to school.
For the returning student, the Regents program accepts more credit than any other department at West Virginia University. There is no limit (except 72 hours from community college) that a returning student can transfer. We also accept credit no matter the age of those credits. RBA forgiveness allows a returning student to remove all failing grades, four years old and older, from West Virginia Institutes of higher education from GPA calculations to give that student a second chance.
For the first time student, the RBA offers the ease of getting started. We offer an exemption from freshman orientation and some basic, introductory freshman classes. The staff is here to give a hands on approach to the application process and enrollment procedures.
